Comic Lovers Assemble!!!

 Stan Lee and Jim Lee, two of the highest-profile comic creators of the past 70 years, will be at this weekends’ Amazing Arizona Comic Convention to sign autographs, discuss their work and do some drawing.

 

The show at the Phoenix Convention Center also includes special-effects demonstrations, a video-game arena, comic-book artists and more than 100 exhibitors selling comic books, T-shirts, memorabilia and toys.

Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, Thor and Iron Man, will be at the convention from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, and take part in a panel discussion at the end of the day.

 

Jim Lee, head of DC Comics and best known for illustrating X-Men, Batman and Justice League, will sign autographs on both Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 27. He will demonstrate his drawing techniques on Sunday.

 

An artists’ alley will display work from more than 100 comic artists, and a video-game arena will allow attendees to test their gaming skills. John Layman, writer and artist for Detective Comics, will lead a panel discussing the new Joker story line, “Death of the Family.”

 

Sunday is family day at the convention. Mat Nastos, one of the artists behind Disney Channel’s “Phineas and Ferb,” will do free sketches for children 10 and younger. The creators of “Adventure Time” and “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” also will attend. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character and enter the kids costume contest at the event.

 

And roaming the convention-center floor during the event will be such favorites as Batman, Superman, Star Troopers and the Avengers.

 

Forrester will be dressed as Loki (archenemy of Thor) on Saturday.
