Bye-Bye Brock

UFC 141 is in the books. It had a lot to live up to. UFC 139 had maybe the greatest main event in UFC history. UFC 140 had two incredible moments; Bones Jones' standup choke and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira's sick broken arm. Let's take a look and see if the streak of awesome PPVs continued.

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem

I voted with my heart and not my head. Dumb move. Brock had no gameplan against Overeem's stand-up and it showed. Overeem dominated early and as a result Brock has declared his retirement. He should call Vince McMahon and get a Wrestlemania payday first.

My prediction: Brock Lesnar

Winner: Alistair Overeem

Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz

Both fighters came out with middle fingers in the air. Diaz out-boxed Cerrone in the first round. Cerrone retailiated with a Karate Kid "sweep the leg" strategy in the second. It wasn't enough and Diaz took the fight via unanimous decision.

My prediction: Nate Diaz

Winner: Nate Diaz

Jon Fitch vs. Johnny Hendricks

I blinked...and I missed it. Fitch got knocked the hell out by Hendricks' first punch.

My predicition: Jon Fitch

Winner: Johnny Hendricks

Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Alexander Gustafsson

This was the first of three first round knockouts of the night. Vlad had the experience, but looked incredibly uncomfortable against the up-and-coming Swede. The only surprise was how easily Alex dominated.

My prediction: Alex

Winner: Alex

Nam Phan vs. Jimy Hettes

This was disturbing. Phan spent 15 straight minutes getting punched in the face. Hettes easily overcomes his toughest competitor to date.

My prediction: Jimy Hettes

Winner: Jimy Hettes

Overall: 3 for 5. That's 60% on what may have been the easiest UFC PPV to predict in 2011. Maybe I'll do better next year. As for the replay, watch the Hendricks' knockout on youtube. Skip the rest.
