Welcome back to another season of “Neanderpicks!”
This is the part of the website where yours-truly delves in to his vast knowledge of football-he’ll-never-use-because-he-wasn’t-good-enough-to-get-in-to-ASU-in-1986-much-less-play-in-the-NFL-or-even-the-USFL-yes-he’s-that-old.
Each week, I’ll make my picks on-air, and post them here for your amusement. And, like every alleged expert, I guess have to start by making my pre-season picks to win their respective Divisions, and the Superbowl. OK…Let’s get to it.
Wait! Before we do that, you need to understand, and accept that *I* am, and always will be, a Raiders fan. I don’t hate the Cardinals. I’m just not a fan. I won’t try to sway you…but you can never sway me. I’m cool with it. Let’s talk sh*t all season & have some fun! (I’m already 0-1…thanks Eli!)
We’ll start with your Cardinals vs. Seattle – They’re starting a rookie, and I don’t see any reason why they should win this game. Ryan Williams is going to be the man. Not only because he’s good. But, and this may shock you, Beanie Wells is hurt. So…yeah. I see the Cards “D” making the difference and pulling out this game. Good way to start the season.

My friends in KC think I hate the Chiefs because I pick against them a lot. I pick against them a lot, because they’re not good. Matt Cassel is garbage. Romeo Crennel is a bad head coach. And…with all the talent they have, they should win more than they do. It’s not happening this week. Taking the Falcons.

Who cares? Seriously. It’s week one and neither of these teams are interesting in any way. Take the Vikes at home I guess.

Potential shocker. The Patriots are *not* what they were. They have serious offensive line issues. I think they can win this game if they can contain Chris Johnson. I’m taking Tenn in an upset.

The Peyton Manning Injury Watch begins this week. The reality is, a *lot* of people will watch Denver games this year to see if Peyton can handle a real hit. I don’t think Denver is all that improved and Pittsburgh are clearly better coached, and tougher. If Manning holds up…and that’s a big if, this wil be an awesome game. I’m taking the Steelers because I think top-to-bottom they’re better.

The Ravens window is closing fast. The anti-Flacco whispers are growing. Can he win the big one? Let’s start with beating an improving Bungles team. Ravens. But…close.

There may not be a more overrated QB in all of football than Philip Rivers. The NFL mediots just love this guy. He’s the Tony Romo of the AFC. They all *want* him to be great. He’s not. That being said, I’m not yet a believer in this new Raiders head coach. It’s going to come down to DMC. Can you stop him? Not this week. He’s fresh. Taking the Raiders at home. It’s early.
