This weekend...I went through a huge Ritchie Blackmore phase. Not sure why. just felt like tearing in to some Rainbow. Not Purple...Rainbow. Blackmore never seems to get the credit he deserves for kicking off the neo-classical shred guitar movement. That always goes to either Randy Rhoads, or this guy. People always overlook Blackmore and Yes' Steve Howe. I guess it's because Yngwie did it at a level never really seen before. Plus, the MTV generation helped significantly. If you don't think Yngwie wanted to be like Blackmore, you never saw him with (former Rainbow & DP vocalist) Joe Lynn Turner. This is the closest thing Malmsteen ever had to a "hit." And, it's today's "4:20 Hairball!" Random Joke: What does Yngwie Malsteen translate to in English?
"...opening act." You're welcome.
