KISS belong in *any* Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Anywhere. Anytime.
They were a cultural phenomenon. They have sold more records than most of the current members of the Hall. They *still* deliver one of the greatest live shows in Rock. They're as iconic an image as the Yankees "NY" or Coca-Cola.
Did they write world-changing songs of cerebral beauty, presented with musical virtuosity? Not on any level. PS. Neither did Elvis...Nor did Chuck Berry. And he's the *real* King Of Rock & Roll. Rock wouldn't be where it is without KISS' contributions to showmanship, marketing, and merchandising.
PPS...they've sold a SH*TLOAD of records!
They changed the entire business. And whether we like it, or not, are one of the Greatest Rock Bands Of All Time. If Gene would humble up, I think more people would be congratulatory today. He's one of the luckiest human beings on earth. Musically talented? Certainly subjective. Relentlessly focused on becoming what KISS has become? There can be no doubt. He's smart. He's worked hard. And the results are; massive wealth, enormous success/fame, and worldwide notoriety.
Good Luck finding a more worthy candidate for induction. Someone just needs to tell him it was a collaborative effort. He should be thankful & humble. Just this once.
Some things are bigger than him. Hope he figures this out before Spring.
