I don't care what anyone says...Ace Frehley is one of the most influential guitarists in Rock history. Yea, Yea, Yea...I know. Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Peter Frampton, blah blah blah...
Fact is, KISS were the biggest band in the world for a good part of the 70's. EVERY bit as big as Zeppelin. Now, in hindsight, we all know Zeppelin were the greater band. That's not in question. However, Ace Frehley was the guy associated with the iconic Les Paul guitar, and millions of kids chose it as their preferred guitar, based upon Ace. He's not a great player. He does what he does very well. But, he is *every* bit Rock n' Roll to the bone. I have no qualms about citing him as one of my favorites. He's just...cool.
Today, Ace turns 61.
Since 1979, I've wanted to be as cool as Ace Frehley. It'll never happen.
