I've been getting a lot of requests this week for cover versions of big songs. Not sure if it's just a coincidence, or I'm helping a Valley cover band work up their setlist. Either way, I get a chance to dig out a good one today from the band Heaven. This was a great CD, that's really tough to find. It's gone through a couple of different pressings. The title track is one you're used to hearing from Gn'R...but honestly, the whole phone call in the middle of the song sorta kills the desperation in the song. It's supposed to be a pleading, woeful song. When Axl does it on the Illusion records, it just comes off whiny & bitchy. There *is* a great live version that Gn'R does on a Japanese import EP called "Live From The Jungle." REALLY tough to find. So...making a long story even longer...here's the Heaven version. The closest thing to a hit the band really had (Rock School didn't take off at all)
