I don't think I've made any secret of my unbridled love for the hair-era. Like most failed musicians-turned radio jerks, I was in a Hard Rock band back in the 80's. We would all gather every Saturday Night to watch "Headbanger's Ball," "Hard 30/60," and inevitably proclaim "We're as good as these guys...how come we don't have a record deal?" Sour grapes? Maybe a little. Long-story-short...our band never made it. But, years later, I'd be working in radio in the beautiful city of New Orleans. Down the street from where I lived, was an obvious "band-house." Turns out, it was these guys' home. Yup...Lillian Axe were my neighbors. They weren't the first band that "made it" that I lived in the same neighborhood with though. I lived in the same apartment complex with Every Mother's Nightmare in Memphis. Moral of the story: I have had many brushes with mediocrity.
Sad note...Lillian Axe were supposed to play in town tonight. Got word earlier today that they're not going to be here. So...this is the love you get. Enjoy today's Hairball!
