Both NBC and the NFL apologize and blame each other for M.I.A.'s one-finger salute during the Super Bowl Half Time show.
NBC said, "We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during half-time" as well as saying, "It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late." That was followed with, "The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show." (So it's not NBC's fault)
The NFL blamed a failure in NBC's delay system for allowing the gesture to be seen. M.I.A. did not do anything similar during rehearsals and the league had no reason to believe she would pull something like that during the actual show. They also said, "The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans." (Guess this means it's not the NFL's fault)

Some people may try to make a Federal case out of M.I.A.'s obscene gesture(s) and Parents Television Council comes to mind. I'm more interested in seeing the entertainment contract. If there are terms about conduct; I wonder how much the fine?
Enough about the British artist the majority of Americans are unfamiliar with, let's see the stumble everyone in America noticed. Madonna trying to climb the bleachers.
It wasn't that bad. Not as spry as she used to be but Madonna is 53 years old. Give her a little credit. She has a new album coming out called MDNA and I know nothing about it other than it sounds poppy and will probably be played in the dance clubs.

Personally I wanted the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform the Half-Time. Maybe next year!
