It's Shmonty and Bob Moog's birthday! Shmonty is one year closer to hanging out with the Grim Reaper and Bob is dead!
If you didn't know, Shmonty is the Morning dude on 93.3 KDKB. Robert Moog is the guy that invented gadgets making all kinds of wicked sounds you hear in Kraftwerk albums. Genesis, Rush, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Pink Floyd, Parliament-Funkadelic, and tons of other bands used various Moog devices to create music we love. Shmonty sang in none of those groups, but has played them on the radio.
If Moog was still around it would have been his 78th birthday. Google dedicated a doodle in his memory. If you go to Google.com today (5/23/12) you'll see this:
Shmonty is still around and you'll find him on 93.3 KDKB weekday mornings 5:30a-10a.

It is quite the accident that both Shmonty and Mr. Moog share the same birthday. To honor both individuals, I'm going to teach you the "Shmonty Mirfday" song. My original intention was to have you sing "Happy Birthday" but Warner Music claims the United States copyright to the song, and unauthorized public performances of it are technically illegal unless royalties are paid.
When you listen to Shmonty on KDKB sometimes you'll hear him create new words. Often the new word is a combination of two or three words. For example I heard him say, "Good Morphternoon!" Where morphternoon is the time between morning and afternoon. Nothing serious but often entertaining. Shmonty said this is a byproduct of eating Playdoh when he was a kid.
Alright, enough with the back story. Let's learn a new Musical Birthday or "Mirfday" song and impress Shmonty with our singing abilities.
Go to Google.com with a modern web browser. (Netscape or IE3 don't work)
At www.google.com click on the Moog Doodle Synthesizer and hit keys on your computers keyboard then use your mouse and adjust the knobs until you find the sound you want. Tell your co-work to "shut-up" and add, "you should mind your own bidness!" Continue making sounds.
Below is a quick guide on how to use the Moog Doodle Synth.

After finding the perfect noise that resonates well with your off-pitch singing voice then you can proceed and learn how to play "Shomnty Mirfday" on the Moog Doodle Machine.
