When a band tours they write a contract which specifies the types of equipment to be used, the staff to be provided, and various business arrangements for each venue. This contract that a performer sets as criteria for performance is called a rider. Sometimes the band gets a little creative and has fun. Here are some of the demands on a rider from the Foo Fighters' 2008 tour:
Fat roadies eat immediately on arrival so they have energy for “their arduous 70 to 90 minute work day.” The band requested vegetarian soups for their oversized roadies to avoid noxious gas issues. Also requested in the rider, one bag of Pirate Booty, a selection of cereals not recycled from “last night’s Dio show,” four bottles of Gatorade in “wacky colors” and DVDs that don’t feature Jamie Kennedy, Martin Lawrence or sports.

Love their sense of humor.
