Young Woman Performs Guns N' Roses “Sweet Child O' Mine” On Ancient Chinese String Instrument

By Thomas Cowley

Michelle Kwan of Vancouver, Canada recently posted her rendition of Guns N' Roses “Sweet Child o Mine” to youtube and within 3 weeks has received over 300,000 views. What makes her cover special enough to warrant so many views? Well if you read the title you should know this but for those who randomly or accidentally clicked this, it is because she has performed her version on a guzheng.

A guzheng is and ancient Chinese string instrument dating back as far as 500 B.C. and Kwan has been playing it for more than 12 years according to her profile and it clearly shows. Her ability is so impressive in fact she has been noticed by the iconic guitarist Slash when he retweeted her performance to his more than 2 million followers.

The talented young artist has said she is taking requests now in appreciation for her views with the leading contender currently Metallica's “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, so perhaps more rock classics will receive an ancient rendition in the near future.
