The third official trailer has been released for Warner Bros. upcoming epic, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in theaters December 13th. This is the second installment of The Hobbit Trilogy captained by Peter Jackson of The Lord of the Rings fame. The trailer mostly comprises of shots, scenes, and bits of dialogue that we have already seen from the first two trailers, however, this one does go into more detail and as a result, more spoilers.
Personally I hate trailers for this very reason. They show us many of the most interesting scenes and ruin plot points that would otherwise remain unknown. More often than not the trailer provides a better story than many of the movies actually do. But admittedly, they do exactly what they are made for, an that is generate hype, and this one does it quite well.
We see Gandalf, Legolas, Thorin, Bilbo, orcs, dwarves, gold, and just enough of Smaug himself to get you pumped. Many would argue that Smaug is the climax of the original book, so time will tell if there is enough content left for a proper third installment. However while the first one was a bit slow, there was enough there and that was only the first 100 pages so time will tell.
