Born in 1971…the child of two enterprising Rock fans with a vision (& the ability to BS a bank into investing in their dream), KDKB debuted on August 23rd of that year, and changed the landscape of Phoenix radio forever.
Like so many others before & since, Dwight Tindle, and Eric Hauenstein made their way to the Valley from the East Coast, in search of the place to put a radio station on the air that represented their lifestyle.
At the time, Rock radio was saturated with sugar-coated, safe, benign & banal, 3-minute pop songs. That would all change when Dwight n’ Eric, who’d been inspired by Rock stations in Philadelphia & Cincinnati, and had attended Woodstock separately, secured the funding to purchase the financially-strapped, “Command Radio” in Mesa.
Over 40 years later…the station has come a long way since those days in the ice house on Country Club Drive. We’ve seen every trend in Rock come & go. Each era had their bands, and fans. Two generations of Arizona Rock listeners have come to KDKB to hear your favorites.
We do not take that honor lightly.
This is your Rock Station. We just push the buttons.
Welcome to our little slice of the ‘net.
For over 40 years…93-3 KDKB Rocks Arizona!
